What DriverTakings is

DriverTakings is a tool to help self-employed drivers record their takings and working costs and understand what they've actually earned. On paid plans, DriverTakings can help structure your records for HMRC's Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD ITSA) service, and, where you choose to connect your HMRC account, submit summary figures to HMRC on your behalf when you explicitly confirm a submission.

This is not tax, legal or financial advice

DriverTakings provides estimates and organisational tools based on figures you enter. It does not replace an accountant, and figures such as estimated tax and National Insurance provisions are simplified estimates, not a tax calculation. You are responsible for the accuracy of the figures you enter and for reviewing anything before it is submitted to HMRC. We strongly recommend speaking to a qualified accountant about your specific tax position, particularly around how your expenses should be categorised.

Your responsibilities

You must provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and review any information carefully before confirming an HMRC submission — DriverTakings will show you exactly what will be sent and will never submit anything without your explicit confirmation. You are responsible for meeting your own HMRC filing obligations and deadlines; DriverTakings is a tool to help, not a substitute for that responsibility.

Subscriptions and payment

Paid plans are billed as described at the point of purchase and processed by Stripe. You can cancel at any time from your Account page.

Availability

We aim to keep DriverTakings available and working correctly but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service, and we are not liable for losses arising from downtime, errors in figures you entered, or issues with third-party services we rely on (Supabase, Stripe, HMRC, DVSA).

HMRC connection

Connecting your HMRC account is optional and can be disconnected at any time from the MTD page. We act only on the specific, limited permissions ("scopes") you grant during that connection, and only when you explicitly ask us to (e.g. by confirming a submission) — we do not act on your HMRC account automatically or on a schedule.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as DriverTakings changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
